Aurora

Aurora Aksnes is born the 15th of June, 1996 in Stavanger Norway. Popularly referred to as Aurora and occasionally stylized using uppercase letters as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, came out in May 2015 on Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. She has previously made two covers that have been viewed by the world's media: Half the World Away by the band Oasis as a Christmas commercial by John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Katy Perry's praise for her track Runaway in a blog post gave the artist some additional recognition. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding an attic piano and becoming fascinated with the sounds it could make. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music. It was not for work or as an interest, but for the sake of growing. For this reason she began to write songs that were her own creations. Her influences include renowned artists Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her attraction to Bjork's style. When her mother told her that her songs would assist her in gaining not only fame but also help people see the importance of their music within the global community and see the potential of their music, she made the decision to make a public debut. Her first piano lesson was when she was just 6 years old and started writing songs when she was nine. She didn't tell her family about her musical journey until she was fourteen. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. The singer claims that she is a fan of composing songs. To her, music is the most effective way to convey anything.
